Summary
MegaTrader uses a combination of browser cookies, direct signups, and internal attribution systems to track affiliate referrals and assign commissions. This system ensures that referrals are properly credited—even if the signup or purchase happens days after the initial click. This article explains how tracking works and how to ensure your referrals are correctly counted.
Referral Attribution Process
When someone clicks your referral link, MegaTrader:
Stores a browser cookie to identify the user
Associates their device, IP address, and session data with your affiliate ID
Tags the user to your account if they sign up or purchase a plan
If the user registers within the attribution window, you are credited for their account and all qualifying purchases that follow.
Attribution Rules
Attribution is first-click based
Cookies are valid for up to 30 days after the initial referral click
If a user clears cookies or switches devices, attribution may be lost
Once a user registers through your link, they are permanently tied to your affiliate account (unless they later register under a different email or system)
Common Reasons for Missed Attribution
While the tracking system is reliable, certain actions can prevent a referral from being properly credited:
The user uses incognito/private browsing mode
The user clears cookies before registering
The user signs up using a different browser or device
Another affiliate’s link was clicked after yours but before signup
The referral used a VPN that obscures IP tracking
If attribution fails, commissions will not be retroactively applied unless manual approval is granted by MegaTrader support.
Viewing Referral Performance
You can track performance using the analytics tools in your affiliate dashboard:
Visits Tab – Number of link clicks per day and referral sources
Conversions Tab – Completed signups and purchases
URL Tab – Which links are performing best
These views allow you to verify which campaigns are generating real traffic and which ones lead to completed purchases.
Best Practices for Reliable Tracking
To ensure successful attribution:
Share direct links instead of shortened or redirected ones
Encourage referrals to sign up immediately after clicking
Avoid sharing expired or modified URLs
Use consistent promotional channels (email, direct message, social media)
